Children of St. Cuthbert’s (REVIEWED ANNUALLY BY THE CHILDREN)
Our children’s mission statement sums up St. Cuthbert’s perfectly; we always strive to help and love another.
We treat one another the way we would like to be treated and do everything we can to help our children, our families & friends, our Parish and the people in our community far and wide. We are always busy helping others…
Our School Values:
For Autumn two our school value is ‘community’.
Our values are; forgiveness, thankfulness, trust, compassion, honesty, respect, love and community.
We hope the below gives you a snap shot into how much our school is integrated into the community and how our Catholic Ethos runs through everything we do…
We have very close links with father AJish Kumpukkal, our Parish priest.
WE ALSO WORK CLOSELY WITH OUR PARISH, have a look at their website:

We welcomed Sheila Gewolb to St. Cuthbert's, who shared her Jewish faith with the children. ✡️🕎
Shelia spent time with us. We discussed our faith connections and learnt about Jewish feasts and what they represent.
Sheila brought many artefacts with her for the children to explore. She explained their purpose, what they symbolised and the basic tenets of her faith. The children played dreidel, had fun dressing up and tried hard to blow the shofar horn!
The children were very interested & had lots of questions for Shelia.
Thank you so much for visiting us. We’ve had a fantastic afternoon with you. 🙏🏽

Our Harvest festival mass in October was also a lovely event. Thank you for your donations to Windermere Food bank.
We do lots of fundraising at St. Cuthbert’s. Already this year we have raised over £100 for Macmillan through our coffee morning, we celebrated ‘hello yellow’ day and raised over £50 for Young minds and we have also had a non uniform day for CAFOD.
This year, as a school we are working towards the ‘live simply’ CAFOD award. This is where we raise awareness and encourage the children to live sustainably and also encourage our school community to reflect on the teachings of Jesus, Catholic social teaching and Laudato Si. Our Laudato Si group are leading this award, they meet weekly and have planned many ways for st cuthberts to be more environmentally friendly.
In September, Father welcomed us to our ‘new school year’ mass. Our children enjoyed reading and leading the hymns.
We also celebrated Mary’s birthday with Father and the Parish.
Our children always read with confidence and pride. It is always a privilege to take the whole school to mass every half term.
On the last day of term, we celebrated a beautiful Leavers mass with members of our Parish and School community.
Thanks to Father Ajish for leading the celebrations.
We will miss our Year 6’s and wish them the best of luck as they move on to their new schools in September.
Keep in touch Year 6 and shine bright…
We enjoyed sharing lunch with Bishop Paul at the end of year Mater Christi mass at St Bernard’s, Barrow.
Mrs Bone and Miss Brownsord took the whole of KS2 to join the celebrations.

Feb 2022
God is speaking…
…we are listening:
In RE recently, we have been using scripture and Biblical Imagery to hear the word of God.
Last week Year 3, 4, 5 & 6 looked at the parable of The Good Samaritan (Luke 10. 25-37).
The children wrote prayers about helping their neighbours and showing compassion just like the Good Samaritan did.
Well done Detectives and Trailblazers.
You’ve written some really thoughtful prayers and responses.
