School meals

We believe that a healthy body and mind is the first step to a better education. All our school meals are cooked fresh in our kitchen and provide a balanced, and nutritional diet. Our lunch menus change each term and aim to encourage pupils to try new foods.

Free meals are provided to children in EYFS and Key Stage 1 as part of the Universal Free School Meals programme. For those in KS2, Years 3 to 6, meals are £2.53 per day and can be booked online through our School Gateway

If you think your child may be eligible for free school meals, please apply to the Education Authority at: Portland Square, Carlisle CA1 1PU (Tel: 01228 226060).

Should you need any help please feel free to call our reception team.

Lunchboxes & Snacks

Should you wish to pack a lunch box for your child, we encourage a healthy and balanced meal that avoids particularly sugary items like sweets.

For safety reasons, we ask that you avoid packing glass bottles or canned drinks for your child.

During the mid-morning break (10.30am - 10.50am), children are allowed to consume a healthy snack supplied by yourself. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, toast is available for 20 pence.

Dietry requirements

We want St Cuthbert’s to be a safe place for every child to learn. That’s why we take time to understand every child’s dietary habits, needs, and allergies. For vegetarians, we offer a meat-free lunch option upon request.

If your child has any food allergies, we ask that you please alert a member of staff when signing up for school meals. For any severe allergies that can be triggered by touch or smell, like nut or shellfish allergies, please alert staff before your child joins our school, so that we may ensure their safety in all areas.
